Old Man's Gloom

Psychedelic Progressive Stoner rock

Band in the making — warty stoner with an unfussy prog flavor and a healthy dose of psychedelia. (The name is just a working title.)

01 The idea

Not trying to save the world, but not purely for my (our) own amusement either — I want a band where I can finally act on this long-suppressed urge to play music, in great company, over the occasional beer and some substantial conversation.

Who I'm looking for

People who enjoy getting together every now and then with like-minded folks to blow off some steam through this particular branch of culture. People who fit the bill: creative, team-oriented, with some musical training, a bit of stage experience, and gear that can actually sound good.

My secret wish is that the band could pull off a cappella too (one of my favorite pastimes as a teenager was committing group spiritual-singing at Hegedű tér with a beer in hand), so if you can carry a tune on top of it all, even better!

But what do I bring to the table?

I graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music with a tuba major. Alongside / after that my prog / death metal band Miserium ran for 10 years — I played guitar, sang, played keys, wrote a handful of songs and arranged more.

Meanwhile I also wrote a song for a punk rock band, played their unplugged shows on guitar and keys, and arranged strings for one of their concerts. Along the way I also played in a symphony orchestra and a jazz ensemble.

For the past few years I've had no musical activity to speak of, and I'm really starving for it!

03 References

A couple of "references" that are stylistically off-page here:

Miserium: Music Box

My favorite track from our Return to Grace album. I wrote and arranged it, I sing the cantus firmus and play guitar on it.

Miserium: Wireless

Unplugged EP with Return to Grace reworks. I co-arranged it, sing and play piano on it.

Álmos — Dsida Jenő: Harum Dierum Carmina

Home demo for a project I had in mind after Miserium's split-up.
